About Us

The New York State Association of Professional Driving Schools (NYSAPDS) is a newly formed Association to advocate for NEW YORK Driving Schools. NYSAPDS’ mission is to limit the impact of the Online Pre-Licensing Course and to create a unified voice for driving schools to advocate for policies that create safe road ways and better driver safety in New York. Who we are:

We are an association of private and commercial, professional driving school owners that was formed to bring unity among stakeholders, both individuals and institutions, to promote professionalism within the driving school community, to help produce safe and proficient drivers through ethical and sound education and business practices, and to be a model through leadership to New York State elected officials, policy makers, and government agencies.

What we want to accomplish:

Our goal is to work alongside the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles (NYS DMV) in the development of regulations as they pertain to driver training, certification of schools and instructors and development of curriculum to produce safe and proficient drivers throughout the State of New York. When needed, we will lobby for our members to ensure the preservation and promotion of our industry.

Being a member of a professional organization should be an integral part of operating a successful driver education program. The New York State Association of Professional Driving Schools is an organization of driving school professionals who seek to educate, train and promote safe driving to the public. In addition, as a group we seek to influence legislation and regulations that promote public safety and enhance our professionalism. Together we share ideas to increase everyone’s productivity, efficiency and profit while advancing the cause of traffic safety.
