S.7022 (Kennedy) - Expands Online Five-Hour Pre-Licensing Course Eligibility to 16 and 17-Year-Olds (OPPOSE) - NYSAPDS opposes this bill which would remove a prohibition on drivers holding class DJ and MJ learners permit from participating in online pre-licensing courses.
S.2575 (Gounardes)/A.1505(Carroll) Require 6 Hours of Pre-licensure Driving Instruction (SUPPORT) - NYSAPDS supports this bill requiring NYS Class D or DJ license applicants to complete 6 hours of on-the-road training with a licensed professional driving school before taking the NYS road test.
S.7234 (Kennedy) - Allowing Driving Schools to Provide Driver’s Education Independently (SUPPORT) - NYSAPDS supports the introduction of legislation that would allow all licensed professional driving schools that are certified and contracted to conduct the in-car portion of driver education programs independently, and the driver education program in its entirety.
Third-Party Providers of the Road Test (SUPPORT) -NYSAPDS supports the introduction of legislation that would allow all licensed professional driving schools to qualify as third-party providers to conduct the NYS road test for Class D or DJ license applicants.
S.2157-A (Palumbo)/A.1487-A(Thiele) – Expand Nassau and Suffolk County Class DJ and Class MJ License Uses (SUPPORT)
- SAPDS supports this legislation that would permit holders of Class DJ and Class MJ licenses to drive directly to and from school during the hours of 5:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. in Nassau and Suffolk counties if the licensee has 6 hours of in-car instruction with a licensed driving school.
